windows not staying up with spiral spring

Question

I have vinyl windows and have not stayed up for a long time. I got a repairman in and he found the bottom window is smaller (not much) than it should be. This causes the spring to pop out. Is there something that can be done to get rid of that movement so the springs will not pop out?
