windows tough to open

Handy Person from Frederick, MD
Windows are very tough to open and close. I was able to get tension on the spiral balance but clearly noticed the plastic shoes are not able to hold onto the balance. Can I simply replace the shoes? If so do you have a good video for replacing shows in a single hung tilt vinyl window? Unfortunately I do not know the manufacturer (house was built in 2000 & I we are owner #2).

Sure, if the balances are fine and the pivot shoes are the only broken parts, there's no reason you can't replace them. Check out the videos on the right side of this page, that should help give you a good idea of how they can be replaced. You can also see our entire selection here.
