Needed 4 sash window balances 29 in long
Thanks for posting. This looks like either the S378-29, S380-29, or S385-29. The only difference between these three channel balances is the 'depth' of the bottom nylon shoe. See below. Measure your old balance's shoe depth to see what matches best. You then have to choose a stamp option, which reflects the strength of the balance. 28G suggests you should choose 2870, which denotes a balance that can support a window in the weight range of 39 through 42 pounds. You can always weigh the window sash to confirm it falls in that range. Let us know if you have questions.
THANKS SO MUCH!
Thanks for the kind words, and very glad I could help! Let us know if you need anything else, and thanks again for reaching out.
We got the sash balances and they install like a dream; however, it appears that on a couple of windows we're also missing a piece that lies flat on the top of the sash that engages the sash balance. Any advice of about how to find the right piece to replace them?
Very happy to help! Yes, it appears these sashes need new Top Sash Guides. They are nylon blocks that keep the channel balances in place. Can you remove one from a sash that still has one intact and show it to us from the front and side? That should help narrow down the one you need.
