Question

The spring and cable won't extend seems to be stuck and won't move. Looks like one of the plastic guide wheels is broken cracked and jammed.

Thanks for posting. See the S380-26 or S385-26 Channel Balance. The only difference between these two balances is the depth of the bottom shoe. See below. Measure your old balance's shoe depth to see what matches best.

You then have to choose a stamp option. This reflects the balance's strength. Your old balance's stamp code of 25-9 is from an outmoded rating system. To know what stamp to pick, weigh the window sash these balances support. You can then use that exact weight to choose the correct stamp option.

Note also that we recommend replacing both balances in the window at the same time--using newer and older balances can cause both to wear out faster. Let us know if you have further questions.
