Welcome to our site. It sounds like you might be talking about a spiral balance, but I honestly can't tell. Can you send me a photo of your balance to confirm?

We are close to an identification. Can you just tell me: does your window tilt in for cleaning and removal?

For a 15" balance measuring 5/8" in diameter, on a 8-10 pound tilt window, you should select an S600-15 with a white tip. If your pivot shoe is working, the balance is all you need to replace. If your pivot shoe (the part that the spiral hooks into) is in bad shape, remove it from the window, take a photo, and send it to us so we can identify it.
