1310 window balance or s395-14

Home Owner from Georgetown Texas
I have a window with a tallness of 18inches. I bought 2 of the S395-16's and they are too long. If the window heigth is 18 inches will the S395-14 work correctly or do I need shorter.
Also, I would like to return the 2 S395-16's I have that dont work for me. Please instruct me hoiw to do this.
Thank you.

Thanks for posting. Sorry to hear the balances you purchased did not work for you. See our Return Policy here

I think first it's best to confirm exactly what your original balances were. See the video below. If you can get us the relevant photos and measurements, we'll do our best to find what you need.

Thats the problem, I dont have the original window balances, they were not present. Again, the height of the kitchen window is 18 inches. And the sash does not weigh that much.

There may be a way to help still, but I can't promise it. We'll need the following information:

  • First, we need to determine if the Series 395 is even what you needed. Is there an identical or similar window in the house that still has the balances? If so, remove them and show us clear photos of the nylon attachments at both ends.
  • Second, for the window with missing balances, tell us the height of visible glass in the window.
  • Third, we'll need the exact weight of this window sash.

We may be able to make an educated guess from there.

18 inches tall for the glass in the sash, Same as the series 395, weight is almost 10 lbs.

Thanks for getting back to me. If the visible glass is 18" tall, and if the attachments match the Series 395, then you need an S395-19 Channel Balance. If a sash weighs just under 10 pounds, choose 1820 as your stamp option. This will support a sash in the weight range of 8 through 12 pounds.
