140 Quick Tilt wrong size

Question

I ordered 8 x Series 140 Quick Tilt pivot shoes (6lb) and when I went to install, I found that the window pivot bar was to large to fit inside the 140 shoe. I'd like to return the 8 x 140's I purchased and find the right part to match.

The old shoe is on the left and the new one is on the right.

Can you help me please?

Thanks for writing in! Our Series 140 Quick Tilt assembly appears to be the best possible replacement for your existing coil balance. Although, to be absolutely sure, I'll need to know the dimension for your shoe. Take a look at the diagram below for reference.

With that said, I believe the best best here would be to replace the existing pivot bar on your sash with one compatible with the Quick Tilt coil balance. To start, take a look at parts 26-398 and 26-405. You'll want to be especially sure to confirm the measurements for the placement of the installation holes. So long as one of them matches up, either of these should work well as a replacement.

If you feel either of these would not be a suitable replacement, I'll need to see a photo of your existing pivot bar removed from the bottom of the sash.
