Probably Andersen, the windows are.
Base of crank handle is broken. I think I need to replace the entire mechanism.

Hello,
I don't believe your old-style Andersen awning window operator. I'm not sure of the size of yours but it is similar to the 39-389 long-arm operator. We can't make any guarantees but take a look at the specifications below, along with the related hardware and videos, to see what you think. Thanks for posting.

The original does not have a rod. There is a channel instead. You can kind of see it in the second photo. Do you think I can use the new style if I remove the channel from the frame of the window?

Thank you for your patience as we checked on this for you. I checked one of the 39-398 operators and confirmed that it comes with three mounting brackets to attach the operator rod to the bottom of the sash. Just let us know if you have any other questions.
