1960s aluminum sliding door latch

Question

The frame has a missing shoulder bolt that should latch inside the keyhole shaped sliding latch mechanism. I want to replace the mechanism or update it without modifying the door itself.

I'm sorry to say that your handle is too old. This door hasn't been made in a long, long time and as such directly replacements are unavailable. The only product we sell that may work would be our 82-005, which you will need to retrofit to work on your door. The video below will show what I mean.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you won't be able to do this job without modifications. When it comes to doors this old that's just something you have to accept.
