1970s door

A home owner from Glen Ellyn, Illinois says:
Hi - trying to find a replacement door latch for a 1970s era sliding glass door. The handle is 5 inches tall and the latch portion mounts on top of the inside of the door as opposed to the latch for modern doors, which are on the inside of the door.

While not exactly the same, the 82-225 lock is familiar. This fits into surface mount handle sets like our 82-005, which has a hole spacing of 4-15/16". Look it over and see if you could use this handle set to replace your old one.

A home owner from Glen Ellyn, Illinois says:
Is the another piece to install on the outside of the door?

The 82-005 comes with an outside pull. You also could use a different pull sold separately, like the 82-042 or keyed 82-306, that works with this handle set.
