1997 MW sliding patio door replacement sill & weather stripping

Question

Hi. After driving rain, I have a substantial puddle on my floor inside the sliding patio door on my "new" house. A door expert inspected it and advised me that I need replacement weather stripping for the operating and fixed doors...and maybe a new sill. This appears to be an original door house on this 1997 house.  Can you advise me as to where I can get replacement weather stripping and sill?  Thanks!

We find that when water comes through a patio door track like this, the sill should to be raised slightly and slanted to the outside. You would need to remove the doors and the complete door frame. Also make sure to examine the bottom wood sill plate for water damage or rot.

You can add a piece of wood to act like a shim, cover it with a aluminum flashing, and then seal it with a good grade of caulk. You may want the help of a local professional. You would need to contact a local MW dealer to see if your bottom track is still available. You can get the door series from the metallic AAMA sticker located on the master frame.

As for weatherstripping, we need you to remove a sample and show us the cross section with dimensions. We will also need to know the width of the base and height of the pile. In the meantime, you can see our entire selection here.
