Need to replace 2 Caldwell window channel balances. They were installed in 1993 when the house was constructed. One balance has marking "28 1/4 3 Caldwell CM". The other one has no identification. The window opening width is 33.5"

I'm afraid I cannot identify what you have based on this information alone. The stamp only indicates the spring strength calibration and is not otherwise used to identify your balance. I recommend that you look at our Channel Balance Home Page and follow the steps in order to find the Series that best matches what you have.
If you can't find a match here, please show us a picture of the top nylon attachment and a picture of the bottom nylon attachment and we will do our best to find a replacement.

My channel balance is marked "Caldwell CM". It is ink dot stamped as "28 1/4" and, metal to metal, it measures 29 1/4". The "3" is separate and I guess that is the spring weight/load number. Photos are attached.

Ah, I see. Thank you! I believe this will have to be specially made, due to the length. I think we have everything we need to get started, but I would like you to confirm the depth of the bottom shoe. I think you have either our Series 390 or Series 351 depending on what size the shoe is.
