28 4 FX CMC 11 Replacement balance

Question

Hi, I took the sash out and the balance is 28  4  FX CMC 11. Approx SH single pane window size is 3'9" wide by 5' high.  They are PGT and installed in 1982 in FL.Just want to order the correct parts. Also have a window that is impact glass single pane SH 4' wide by 4'6" high that does not appear too old with spiral balance that is sagging some. Can this spiral balance be tightened and what tool is required?

I'm afraid I cannot identify your channel balance based on this information alone. I recommend that you look at our Channel Balance Home Page and follow the steps in order to find the Series that best matches what you have.

As for the spiral balance, these can be tightened up in many cases. The tool you'd want is our 75-005 if this is for a non-tilt window, or a 75-006 if this is for a tilt window. You only want to give it 2-3 turns. If you don't feel tension build after 2-3 turns, then it's time for new balances.
