28" spiral balance
No markings on the tube.
Windows are 22 years old, were from a company in New Jersey, and sold to Hovnanian builders and installed in new home construction. Definitely contractor grade windows at best.
Using your selector guide, I determined the matching part to be: S600-28; Series 600 Spiral Tilt Window Balance. Is that correct?
I have an additional question regarding the pivot shoes I am replacing.
I am ordering your Pivot Shoe P/N 15-046.
On the windows I am repairing, there is a small screw installed on the shoe to hold the metal tip in place, once the balance has been charged and put in the shoe.
None of your videos show the screw, and your replacement parts don't include them.
Should I reinstall the screws on the new replacement shoes? I see that there is a spot for a screw to be installed on your new shoes.
Thank you for reaching out to us. I agree, our Series 600 looks like the best part for the job, based on your tube diameter.
As for the screw in the shoe you mention, this is not necessary for installation. You can reuse the ones you had originally and put them in the new shoe, or you can ignore them. Some installers put them in to help during installation but it's up to you.
