29" Channel Balance for Viking Window

Handy Person from Salinas, CA
I need your help to identify the correct replacement channel guides.  Attached are pictures of a balance from a Viking window.
The guide is stamped "2840", and measures 5/8" deep, 9/16" wide, and 29  1/4" long.  It appears to match your 29" parts, with a minor difference on length. The top shoe appears to match part 19-005.  The bottom shoe appears to be very close to shoe 15-001 or 15-002.
 I don't think it's a match for Series 350, 351, 370, 371, 372, 377, 380, 385, or 390. It might be a match for series 395 (shoe 15-001
A.  Is your 29" part the correct replacement part for a 29.25" "2840"?  Does the 1/4" difference in length matter?B. What is the difference between shoe 15-001 and shoe 15-002
C. The curvature on your bottom shoes is less sharp than the curvature in the attached pictures.  Will that make a difference?
D. What is your assessment of the best match for my current balances, based on the attached pictures?

Hello, thank you for writing in.

The first thing I'd like to confirm is the length of your balance. When determining this dimension, be sure to measure only the metal channel and do not include the plastic attachments.

Next, the difference between the two shoes you mention is that the 15-002 is 1" deep, whereas the 15-001 is 1-1/8" deep. The curvature of the shoe shouldn't make a difference - it's the depth that is important.

Based on the style of your top attachment and bottom shoe, I believe you have the Series 395.

Let me know what you find about the length of your metal channel!
