3-11/16 in. replacement lock for patio door

Home Owner from Chandler, AZ
I previously ordered a 45° Mortise latch but the slot where the locking latch goes in was too small. The locking latch is shown in IMG 0558.

Thanks for posting. This mortise lock resembles our 82-218. Certainly latches like our 82-106 and 82-107, which work with 3-15/16" handle sets, should be compatible with this mortise lock. Can you show us the handle set? From there we'll try and determine what the issue might be. Thanks.

Here is a picture of the handle for the sliding glass patio door. My only issue is that the level slots on the Mortise latches sold at hardware stores are too narrow for the lever to fit into it (in order to lock and unlock). See image 0565 - my original mortise lock I'm looking to replace is on the left (wider lever slot) vs. a PLPCI mortise latch bought at a Lowes hardware store (lever slot is too narrow), which won't work as a replacement. Thus, I need the proper mortise latch replacement part.

Thanks,

Lou

Hey Lou, thanks for clarifying. This is a pretty interesting problem; I haven't come across it before, and while the 82-106 is the right replacement for your old thumb latch, I fear it will have the same issue your old latch did. But it would be a shame to have to replace your mortise lock again with our 82-218, although I know for a fact will work with this thumb lever. I'm forwarding this discussion to one of my senior colleagues who specializes in sliding door hardware, and we'll get back to you as soon as we can with more thoughts.

I just found out from the home builder that the manufacturer of the patio door is Cascade Windows, model 6080 PD2.

Has there been any feedback from your colleague?

In the meantime, I have confirmed that my manufacturer is Cascade Windows (800-442-8544) and the model of the patio door is a 6080 PD2- low-e Gardian glass, vlnyl frame, almond color.

Thanks for your patience. I'm afraid the name of the manufacturer doesn't help us in this case. I couldn't find anything related to this mortise but with a slightly wider opening. I'm wondering if it was just a different mold. If so, it may not be something we can get.

One thought would be to file the lever tail down a little to make it thinner to fit into the slot on the mortise. What do you think? I know it's not ideal, but it would be less expensive than a new lock and I don't see any reason why it won't work.
