82-265 adjustments

A quick learner from Maryland US says:
Hello, i purchased a 82-265 double mortise lock to replace a old failed lock. The hooks don't seem to be long enough to reach the old plate on the door frame and the handle is hard to move. Should I look into replacing all of the other hardware or is there a better latch that would fit my door.

Cannot find make / model / serial number on the slider.

Hello!

The problem you're describing is common. In most cases, these locks do need to be adjusted; turning the tiny screws next to each hook will extend them (or retract, as needed).
