82-265 lock stuck

Have 82-265 lock,locked closed.removed handle, tried to release.no luck. Slot inside has fallen out. Lowe's, no help. Jeld wen door mfg, no help. Can not open locked mortise mechanism to replace.

When you say "slot," do you mean the activator that the turn lever goes into? If you door have the 82-265 mortise lock, there are two activators on the lock body and are set at 3/4" on center. It might be possible to drill a hole either above or below your existing hole to try and locate the other activator, then try to unlock your door. The handle should cover any extra hole you drill as long as you don't get to careless when drilling. To be honest, you may want the help of a local professional. A locksmith may be able to help.
