Alenco Window Balance replacement

The numbers stamped on the balance are 27-3 DL5 CMC 43. I would think this would be a 27" balance but the metal piece measures 28" top to bottom not including the accessories. The sash weighs about 17 lbs. Can you help with a replacement(s).

You are absolutely right in your metal length measurement. It should measure 28". That said, have a look at our S380-28 and S385-28 channel balances. The only difference between these two balances is the 'depth' measurement of the bottom balance shoe. You will need to measure the depth of your bottom shoe, the way it is shown in the diagram below, to determine which of the two balances is the better match. Whichever one chosen will go with the 2730 option that supports a sash weight of 13-19 pounds.

Hey, Mike. The first picture is what you want. That does look like a depth of 1", which means our Series 380 is the best match.

I measured the shoe in two different places. I believe I need to order the S380-28 balance with the 2730 option. If you agree, I place the order.
