Alside Excalibur Series balance assembly

Quick Learner from Maryland

Do you have the Balance Assembly for this window?

Alside Exclaibur 2006

Serial # 115-180936

I believe its series 0201 but not positive about that. Its a double pane window.

The metal part on the shoe where the sash pin engages has broke. If this part does not exactly match the original on the other side, does that imply they should be replaced in pairs?

Thanks,

Mike

Hello, Mike. The pivot shoe you show here appears to be a match for our 15-177. This is designed to work with the Series 152 coil spring, though that may not be necessary. The pivot shoe is the only thing that appears broken so as long as the springs are still in working condition then they can easily be reused.

Ok. Its not clear to me how the coil is separated and rejoined to the pivot shoe. The video you provided shows how to remove the pivot shoe but not how to disengage the coil from it. Is the coil disengaged, then the pivot shoe removed, then the coil reengaged? When I disengage it, I assumed it would retract toward the coil assembly in some way, not sure. Do you have anything showing this procedure?

Thanks!!

When you remove the shoe, you have to remove the shoe, spring, and everything else along with it. These can't be removed piecemeal. Assembling them while they're still in the track is impossible. It has to come out as a unit. The first step is to retract the shoe all the way up to the springs, then unscrew the base from the window siding. You then need to pull it out of the cutout at the top.

Once it's out, the coil spring simply screws to the shoe. You would unscrew it from the old one, screw it onto the new one, and put the whole unit back in the track. The video below will give you a much better idea of how these work.
