Andersen casement windows operator and channel

Handy Person from Buffalo, NY
I am trying to replace the operators on old Andersen casement windows.  The operator is 7073A.  The arm is 7.5" from the bend and 9.5" in total.  I tried a replacement part from prime line that appeared to fit, but the window would not close all of the way as the arm and roller was essentially too thick and so the window would become stuck in the last one inch of closing. The matching channel also does not fit into the window. it is a U shape that is two high on the back side of the U. Whereas the original part that fit the window was shaped like a Z.

Hello,

You have a very old style operator that is, unfortunately, not made anymore. It's very similar to our 39-028E and 39-027E, but the bearing at the end of the arm is the big difference: ours are round and thick compared to yours, which is skinny and square. This seems to be similar to the new parts you already tried on the window.

You may still be able to get our 39-028E and 39-027E to work, but it would require changing the track to our 39-505. The issue is that this track mounts to the face of the sash. If yours mounts under the sash, that may render these parts incompatible without a lot of retrofitting. You may want the help of a local professional to do that work for you. Even if it would be possible I would imagine it would take a lot of trial and error to get right. Review the specifications shown on our product pages and see what you think.
