This operates with buttons. Down to lock, up to unlock. And, when it's working, it will stay unlocked, so that you can go outside and not be locked out. Probably installed in '59-'61.

Wow, this is one old handle. I don't believe we'll be able to offer anything exactly like this. Your best bet may be to opt for a surface-mount handle set like our 82-005. This operates similarly to your old handle in that it has its own self-contained mortise hook. The only catch is that you'll have to drill holes into your old frame and mount it there.

That brings up one major potential issues. Your door frame looks pretty narrow and is obviously not meant to accommodate any kind of handle. I don't know how deep the glass goes into the frame. When drilling new holes for the 82-005 there is a risk that you'll hit the glass and crack it.

This is obviously something you want to avoid at all costs. Unfortunately, we don't have another solution for your door. It is just too old and its style differs too greatly from those we usually deal with. I'm sorry that we can't offer you a better solution.
