Awning window with side crank. Spiral gear might be stripped. Doesn't stay inside crank shaft.

Hello there!

It looks like you have a casement window that was installed as an awning window. Our 39-031 and 39-155 casement operators come to mind. Take a look at the specifications for each and see if one of them matches up.
