Balance For Single Window

Handy Person from St. Charles, MO
Balance for singe hung window. Mounts on top, one on each side. I have a couple of broken ones like the one in the picture I'd like to replace.

Thanks for reaching out! This window balance has a 62-105 Heavy Duty Pointed Hook attached to the bottom of it, so the replacements will need to be custom assemblies.

To provide you with a quote for the replacements, I'll need to know the length of the channel and the stamp from etched into the metal. The quantity minimum for custom assemblies is (2) balances.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Just for clarification, by length of the channel you need the length of the silver C channel I removed, not the window correct? Also where should I be looking for the metal stamping? I do not recall seeing anything on the metal C channel

Yes, the channel is the balance assembly you removed from the window. I'll need to know the length of the part to determine the correct length for the replacement.

The Stamp would be on the metal channel that was removed, on the back (the closed off side). Since there is a C, there is likely to be set of numbers in front of it. If so, I'll need to know what they are.

Should you find that there aren't any numbers, I'll need to know the exact weight of the window sash, which is the moveable part of the window.

The channel is 41" long and had 4080 stamped in it. I know I'll need 2, but I'll need to check all of my windows when I am home from vacation to confirm, I may need a few more.

Hello,

The 4080 stamp does not cross-reference with the stamps on our plain channel tilt window balances. So, I will need to know the sash weight to determine the correct replacement stamp. It will be important to get the exact weight, down to the ounce. Especially given the replacements are custom assemblies.

Please let me know if you have any questions in the meantime.

The sash weighs 20.7 lbs and I'll need 3 replacement assemblies.

Hello,

I noticed there is a hole at the top of the channel, so I assume it screws in at the top of the channel but I'd just like to confirm, to be sure. If it uses a clip, I'll need to see a photo of the clip used to secure the balance to the window track.

This is the last piece of information I'll need to finalize the quote.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

The holes at the top do nothing as far as I can tell. This is the only screw you have to remove to get the balance out. Once it's out, the balance can be pried out of the channel, almost like it's a snap fit along the entire channel.

Thanks for confirming! We do not have a replacement for the screw used to keep your balances in place, so you'll need to reuse them for the installation.

I've forwarded a quote for (3) of S770-41 Channel Balances with a 62-105 hook attached, as requested. Although, it would be encouraged to replace all of the balances at one time. The lead time for the order will be 5 to 6 weeks. Please let me know if you would like to increase the quantity.

The shoe in the window track can likely be replaced with the 15-105 Pivot Shoe. Be sure to double check the dimensions to confirm it is the correct fit.
