Balancers

A contractor from Iowa City says:
I need to replace balances in unidentifiable window. I have found replacement pieces for the pivot shoe, bar, inverted link and clip that will match perfect, but I was hoping for some advice on actual balancer/spring.
The current channel balance has spring on the bottom, with the cord running through pulleys on the top and tying into the balance clip. It looks like the 765 or 795 channel balance is where i should be looking, but I can't figure out which is the better fit. Any thoughts?

We can replace this balance, but it will have to be a custom order. Basically we would use our S795-32 tilt balance but with a 15-198 hook attached to the cord and a 15-224 inverted link installed on the metal channel. Does that look good to you?

If so, can you tell me the exact weight of the sash these balances support? Can you also tell me how many you need? Once I know that, we can email you an order link and price quote for that quantity.

You are correct in choosing 15-216 T-Lock pivot shoe and 26-021 pivot bar. As for the screws, we recommend going to a local hardware store and showing them to match. Screw size depends more on the window than the part and you'll need something that matches what you had before.

A contractor from Iowa City says:
Our repairman reports that the sash weights 25lb.
I appreciate the help.

Tom from SWISCO responded:

Thank you! If your sash is 25 pounds then we can go with our 32D option. This supports 25 through 30 pounds.

You may want to double check just in case. Your original stamp is 32H, which is for far heavier sashes. It's possible that whoever installed these originally didn't bother weighing the sash and that 32D is what you really need, but it's something to consider.

I still just need to know how many you need. Once I know that, I'll shoot over that order link.

A contractor from Iowa City says:
Lets order 6 of these.
32D should be good. Holding up bottom sash of a 36x66 aluminum window. I noticed that "H" stamp when it got brought to me. seemed like it was way to heavy duty for the size/weight of the installed windows.
Thanks for all the help.

Sounds good to me! It's entirely possible that the original stamp was overkill. Happens all the time.

I'll go ahead and send you an order link for 6.
