Block and tackle balance
They didn't know the size of the balance but it has "5500" on it
Hey there,
Thanks for writing in! I believe the balances you have may be extended travel channel balances but to determine this, with certainty, there are a few details I'll need to confirm.
To start, may I see a photo of an undamaged balance removed from the window? I'll need to see clear photos of the top and bottom attachments as well as the hook installed to the bottom of the balance.
I would also suggest double checking the length of the metal channel. I suspect it may be 26-7/8"; just a hair under 27".
The last piece of information I'll need to confirm is the exact number of balances you intend to purchase. There is an order minimum of (2) balances per custom order.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
It is very likely the top sash guides in that window are damaged. These are installed at the top left and right corner of the window, and help to keep the balance secure as well as guide it in the track. I'll also need to see an undamaged version of this piece to identify the proper replacement.
I've included a few video tutorials, from our Swisco YouTube page that detail how to remove/install balances, how to repair a jammed window, and how to replace a top sash guide. They can be found below.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
Thanks for attempting to submit the photos; although, they uploaded completely blacked out. Can you please try submitting them again?
Our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience.
I've tried as much as I can to get them to upload, but it's not working.
It looks like they've uploaded completely blacked out again. Please email them to help@swisco.com and include the reference number for this discussion in the email. Our customer service team will be able to get your pictures forwarded over to me.
Again, our apologies for any inconvenience.
I think I got it. Let me know if these are coming through correctly.
Here is the broken piece on the side of the sill
Thanks for the photos. I am still waiting to confirm the pricing for the balances and expect to have that confirmed soon.
In the meantime, the piece I was referring to was not the metal piece. The metal pieces are the take out clips, which are also equally as important for repairing the windows. They help to keep the balance from shooting up once the sash itself has been removed. These are the 16-002 Take Out Clips
When referring to the plastic pieces at the top corners of removable window sash, I am talking about the top sash guides, as mentioned. These help to guide the window up and down in the channel. Take a look at the videos below as reference.
I'll need to see photos of them to properly identify them. Please refer to the response above and review the videos I included.
