Hello there. Are you talking about the take-out clips that keep the balances in place during removal and replacement of the sash? If so, see if our 16-002 matches your old clip. If it doesn't, please send me pictures of your old clip so we can find something better for you. For information on how to remove and replace these clips, see the video below.

Thanks for the info on the 16-002 Take Out Clip. (On a weekend, to boot!) That is just what I needed.

I do, however, still need guidance on ordering replacement of the spring assembly for

Hi Roger,

To determine the correct series of channel balance your window uses, we will need to see one of the originals removed from the window where we can see pictures of the top and bottom nylon attachments. From there we can narrow down our selection for the best fit!

Here are photos as requested. (It is unfortunate that Milgard does not label the balances with sufficient specificity.) If you need more or different detail, please let me know.

(Your customer service is fantastically good!)

Thank you for the additional pictures,

With this combination of attachments, you could have either an S380 or S385 channel balance. You’ll need to measure as shown below. The Series 380 has a 1" bottom attachment, and the Series 385 has a 1-3/32" attachment.

The length of the metal channel excluding the nylon attachments should measure 27" and you will need a 2640 stamp option. Please review and let me know if you have any additional questions!

(Unbelievable that the manufacturer would make two models so close without an unambiguous identification.)

My part measures 1-1/16, but it appears worn, easily 1/32", which would suggest the model 385. I will order accordingly.

Thanks for all your help. I've recommended you to our neighbors, all of which had the same builder, and probably have the same window designs.

Thanks again.
