Broken Spring Mount

Home Owner from Georgia
This piece mounted to the bottom of a spring is supposed to be connected to the bottom of the window with a post going through that hole, but the piece is broken at the bottom, so the post slipped right through and the spring retracted entirely. I'm trying to figure out if I need to replace this piece or the piece and the spring and how to determine the part number and get this done.

Thanks for writing in! The balance you have is a jamb liner spring balance. Unfortunately, we do not have a replacement for it but the 15-104 Caradco Friction Shoe should work to replace it. This is often used with the 20-016 Tilt Pin.

I'm afraid I cannot tell by the photos if the spring would need to be replaced or not. You'll need to examine the hardware to determine that. If you find that they do need to be replaced, you'll need to reach out to a local mill work in your area to inquire about what your replacement options might be.
