Broken coil balancer
Thank you in advance for help identifying this problem and hopefully a fix.
Matt
Hi there Matt.
Thank you for reaching out to us. Your pivot shoe matches our 15-177, which is designed to use the Series 152 coil springs. You'll have to check the old spring band for a stamped weight code.
We're happy to ID the pivot bar, but we'll need to see photos of an undamaged version removed from the window.
Attached are additional pictures. Thank you very much for your assistance.
Matthew
The code would be on the tongue of the spring, which would require removing and inspecting the old one. If there aren't any stamps, you'll have to divide the sash weight by the number of springs used in the window. You're also welcome to get back to us with the sash weight for us to calculate.
The video below shows a different part, but the process for removing the window sash remains the same. To do this, tilt the sash inward and twist it. The goal is to lift one balance higher in the frame than its counterpart on the other side. This angle will create enough clearance for the pivot bars to slip out of the cam.
