I need a replacement for a Caldwell Channel Balance with the following information
18" Long
Stamp - Caldwell 17-4
1/2" wide
9/16" deep
I believe I need the S 385 with option 1740 but I wanted to be certain before ordering.

Thank you for posting on our discussion board. I believe either our S380-18 or S385-18 balance will work for you, depending on the 'depth' measurement of the bottom balance shoe. You will need to measure the depth of your bottom shoe, the way it is shown in the diagram below, to decide which of the two balances is a match. Whichever one chosen will use a 1740 option that supports a sash weight of 14-17 pounds.

Depth of the shoe looks to be 1 1/8"

Then most likely you need the S385-18. When it comes down between these two types of balances, if the shoe is at all greater than 1" deep, its safe to assume its the Series 385, even if the depth just wore down a bit from age and use. Let me know if you have any other questions.
