Caldwell Window Sash Replacement Guide Unit Question ?
" Insulate" which could be what he had as well ? It appears that he made have used the "2540 " for 19-25 lbs which sounds more in line for what I need , I would rather have less stress on the guides if possible to help extend the life of the cords ? Please let me know what your thoughts are and what a set of 4 shipped to 97701 would be ? Thank you so much ,
Scott
Hey Scott. It looks like these are either S380-26 or S385-26 Channel Balances. The only difference between these two types of balances is the depth of the bottom nylon shoe, or the 'heel-to-toe' measurement. See the diagram below for reference. Compare both with your old hardware to see what matches best.
Now, as far as the stamp option goes--did you ever have trouble closing these windows or keeping them closed? Did they ever 'drift' upward when not in use? Those are telltale signs that the balances are too strong for the sash weight. If you are certain that the window sash weighs 22.25 pounds, then 2540 certainly seems like a more sensible stamp option to select. Just be absolutely certain about the sash weight before proceeding--if you didn't have the issues of keeping the window closed as I'd described, I'd actually be skeptical if the stamp was incorrect. And let me know if you have any other questions.
