Certainteed vent latches

Quick Learner from California
I have Certainteed vinyl windows, some single hung, some double hung, and some sliders. I need two vent latches. Maybe more in the future!

One double hung window needs a vent latch (it was broken) and one slider window need one (this one was fine, but one end came loose). The latch on the slider window looks just like this one (26-148) with a metal piece on the end. I am positive that this part is the same. The measured dimensions are exact.

But, on the double hung window the old broken latch is exactly the same dimensions but does not have the metal extension. Will this 26-148 work in place of the one without a metal piece? Are these the same?

My photo shows them side by side facing the same way. The one without the metal piece is broken so they don't look identical. The ribbing on the pop-out piece is slightly different, but almost identical.

Is the one without a metal piece available? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for posting! I agree. I think our 26-148 is the best possible match for you. I'm not sure what's going on with the other vent lock of yours--the one that's missing the metal tab. It's possible that it once had a tab and that it broke off, or that it is simply an older, obsolete model.

I think before you use our 26-148 to replace it, though, I would try out one of your existing vent locks--one that does have the metal tab--in the other window to see if it would still work. That would be a good "trial run," just to make sure that something with those dimensions and that metal tab works in the other window.
