Thanks for posting. I'm confident we can replace these channel balances for you, but the stamp code 28D only tells us the strength of the spring inside the balance. To know what kind or Series of balance you need, you'll have to remove it from the window and show us pictures of the nylon fittings at either end of the balance. From there, we should be able to help. It also looks like your balances may have shot past the window track. If so, you might want to double-check that your Top Sash Guides, or the nylon parts in the corner of the sash that keep the balance in place, didn't break. If they did, we can replace them as well, but we'll need to see an undamaged version out of the window, with 'mugshot' pictures of its front and side. For details on how to remove and replace your channel balances, see the video below. |

Hey there, I think I can help. So, like Bob mentioned, your top sash guide definitely has to be replaced. Your new photos here prove it. I recommend our 18-180. This looks awful close to the damaged part you're showing us, but I recommend reviewing our dimensions and pictures just to be 100% sure. As for the balance, you have an older design that isn't really used much anymore. The good news is that you can replace it with our S380-29. This uses a 19-005 top and 15-005 bottom nylon fitting. With a stamp of 28D, I'd go with our 2840 option, when prompted. Before you buy anything, I would just make sure that you really do have a 15-005 shoe. There's a chance that you may have something else. As long as the dimensions all match up, though, then you should be good to go. If they differ, let me know and I'll find something better. All of our balances come fully assembled so no need to worry about that, either. Let me know if you have any questions. |

Thanks! Based on your second photo, your nylon pivot shoe is 1" deep, which would make it our 15-005. You may not want to take my word for it, though. Photos of a tape measure held up to a part aren't always accurate. It can be difficult to judge precise size and I may be wrong. You should measure it as carefully as you can and use your best judgement. |

It still looks like 1" to me, but like I said a photo of a tape measure isn't that accurate. You'll ultimately have to use your best judgement. If you do have the 1" deep 15-005, then we recommend the S380-29 channel balance. Detailed pricing can be found on its store page. Your order can be placed on that page, as well. Delivery time depends on what shipping option you choose during checkout; we offer a few different choices. |
