Channel Balance ID

A home owner from ROCKLIN, CA says:
2830 BALANCE FROM VIKING WINDOW NEW CIRCA 1987. WHEN I SEARCH THIS USING YOUR SEARCH ENGINE I DO NOT GET 2830 BUT A LOT OF OTHER SERIES & NUMBERS.
QUICK QUESTION: HOW MUCH?

Bob from SWISCO responded:

Thanks for writing in. The stamp code 2830 actually refers to the calibration of the spring inside the balance, but not the type of balance itself. This balance looks like either our S380-29 or S385-29; just confirm that the metal channel is 29" long to be safe (not including the nylon fittings). The only difference between these two balances is the 'depth' of the bottom nylon shoe, so compare both with your old hardware to see what the best match is. You will need a stamp option of 2830 as indicated. All pricing is listed on the balance shop pages.
