Channel Balance replacement

Home Owner from Redmond, WA

I need to replace the sash balance on my sliding window. From the pictures and descriptions, this looks like the right replacement part. It is a Vantage vertical slider 287-N-024. I have a couple of questions.

  - The guide on the web page says the metal channel is 14" long. The old metal channel measures 13 3/4". Is this close enough? Should I consider this to be 14"?

- The stamp imprint on one of my old metal channels says 13 9 (there is a space between the 13 and the 9). The other one says 13 4. I don't know if the corresponds to any of the weight options above. Should I just try to weigh my old window or does 13 9 mean something.

Thank you for any help you can offer.

The metal channel is 13 3/4" long and the metal stamp on one channel is 13 9 and the other one says 13 4. I probably need new takeout clips as well as new sash balances

Hello,

We can supply your replacement balances but it will need to be a custom order due to the length, extended travel pulley system, and unique combination of end attachments. To get started, we'd like to see a clear, close-up photo of the metal clip at the end of the pulley cord to confirm the correct replacement. Please also confirm the number of balances that you need, with the minimum being two.

As for your take out clips, we would need to see yours uninstalled to confirm but you can start by comparing the 16-002 to yours. Thank you.

Hi There - I have taken pictures of the metal clip at the end of the pulley, but the upload function on this form does not seem to be working. It is just stuck in an "uploading" state for 5 minutes and the files are each less than 1MB. Is there an email address that I could send these pics to?

The takeout clip looks exactly like the one int he picture you provided above.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble uploading additional images of your balance clip. If you could email them to help@swisco.com with reference number D257246, we can go from there. Thank you.

Thank you for sending over the additional photos. Now, we just need to confirm how many 13 4 balances and 13 9 balances you need, with the minimum being two each. If these balances are from one window, we'll need you to confirm the exact sash weight since both balances from the same window should have the same stamp code.

These balances are from the same window. The sash weight is 13 pounds. I would like two of everything - one for each side of the window. Thank you.

Thank you for confirming your sash weight for us. According to our records, the 13 4 stamp would support a sash between 11-12 pounds, while 13 9 supports 16-22 pounds. If you're confident that your sash weighs exactly 13 pounds, we'd be happy to send you an order link and price quote for two fo the 13-5 balances that will support between 12-16 pounds. Just let us know how you would like to proceed and we can go from there. Thank you.

Yes. Please send me the order form. I'm confident the sash weighs 13 pounds. Perhaps that is why it was installed with 1 x 13-9 and 1 x 13-4, because it is in between the two weight specs. I'll go with the 2x 13-5 as you recommend.

Thank you for confirming. We just sent over an order link and price quote for the balances you've requested. Take a look and let us know if you need anything else.
