Channel balance

Thanks for your photos. Based on what I see here, you have either our S380-29 or S385-29, depending on the depth of the bottom shoe. That's the only difference between them. I recommend measuring your shoe and referring to our dimensions to confirm the best match.

Thank you

No, it will not. The main function of a balance is to provide constant upward force to the sash, which counter-balances the constant downward force provided by gravity. If the upward force is higher than the downward force, which is what you get with a stronger spring, then the window will be much harder to close. In some cases it will even open up on its own.
To put it simply, stronger isn't better when it comes to balances. What you want is something made specifically for the weight of your sash; no more, no less. The upward force and downward force must be equal.
The good news is that we have a handy weight chart on each balance store page in our inventory. If you have any doubts that your existing spring is strong enough to provide the appropriate upward force, you can just weigh your sash on a scale and refer to the chart to pick the best option.

You guys are great!

Thank you! We appreciate the business. Please feel free to reach out if you had any other questions and I will be happy to advise.
