Channel balance

Home Owner from Davenport, Florida
Channel  is 29 inches long for just the metal, the Block and tackle section fell out as I was removing these as they were broken, need to know what replacement I should buy. I've done plenty of spiral balances in my homes. This is the first channel.

Hi there!

Thank you for reaching out to us. Take a look at the S380-29 and S385-29 channel balances. You'll have to measure the bottom shoe to determine the best match for your window. There should also be a stamp printed on the metal channel that will indicate the needed strength option.

After posting this I found the stamp 28C on the old balance, even though the chanel measures 29" should it actually be a 28"?

No, the length of the channel is always 1" more than the first two numbers in the stamp, so the metal channel should measure 29". The 28C stamp likely corresponds to the 2830 stamp. A pair of balances with this stamp supports a sash weighing 16 to 23 pounds; however, weighing the window sash on a scale would confirm whether it falls within this weight range.
