Fixing Nuair aluminum windows in my daughter's house. Windows are double glazed. I have one of the balances in front of me. The markings are: 28DS DL 38. There is also BSI placed at 90 degrees between the 28DS and the DL. The foot appears to be 15-004 or 15-005 and the top is 19-005. What is my replacement part. I understand that the top and bottom nylon parts are sold separatly. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for posting! Before I can offer an applicable replacement for this channel balance, I just need to know a bit more information about the bottom attachment. Please take a look at our 15-004 and 15-005 channel balance shoes, and note their depths. As you can see, they are 1-3/32" deep and 1" deep, respectively. Which one more closely matches your own bottom attachment?
The nylon attachments are sold separately in case of repair, but if you purchase one of our channel balance Series, they will come already attached!

Reference 18868. The shoe I measured this afternoon is 1 1/16 inch. Therefore the 15-004 at 1 3/32 inch is the closest. I assume the one I measures had some wear on it. I forgot to mention this is a double-glazed four pane wide and two pane high sash - fairly heavy. I hope the figures I gave yesterday cover the weight issue. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for getting back to us. I agree--your shoe may have had some wear to bring it down to a 1-1/16" depth. Happens all the time.
So, it looks like you have something similar to our Series 385. Looking at your stamp, I would say your length is 29". Is that about right?
Now, usually I could also determine the proper weight option based on your stamp, but that "DS" after the 28 makes me second guess myself. I think it'd be best if you weigh your sash and then compare it to the strengths listed for the S385-29 below:
S385-29
2810: 7 through 12 pounds.
2820: 12 through 16 pounds.
2830: 16 through 23 pounds.
2840: 23 through 28 pounds.
2850: 28 through 32 pounds.
2860: 32 through 35 pounds.
Please keep in mind that the weight range information is based on 2 balances per sash. Balances are designed assuming friction in the jamb weather-strip will carry a portion of the sash weight. Suggested sash weights are approximate.
Let me know if you have any other questions!

Wow!! Tom thanks very much. You are correct, the channel lenght is exactly 29 inches. I will weigh the sash, make my selection from the choices you provided and place my order. I plan to replace both balances. I now know what to do. Thanks again.
