Coil Balance

Question

Hi I'm looking for coil balances for a few windows. The coil balance here is from a 40 x 22" lower sash. It says 15 on the cover, but every picture I've seen says a 15 is more like a double coil than a single. When I pull on it, it feels like 15 lbs though. It appears to hold up the whole window by itself, as this balance is clearly not doing its job. Please reach out as soon as possible as I'm trying to get parts here and installed before we move this weekend. Thanks!

Hello! Your pivot shoe appears to match our 15-177, which means your coil spring is our Series 152. Please note that this spring is 1/2" thick, so if yours is thicker then please let me know. It's an important detail.

The reason I bring that up is because it's very, very bizarre for a single coil spring to support 15 pounds. To be frank, it would be extremely bizarre if a single coil spring carried only 10 pounds. Our Series 152 maxes out at 9.

I hate guessing, though, and there's an easy way to confirm this. I would like you to remove your sash and place it on a scale to get its weight. Please be as exact as possible, down to the ounce if you can. If these springs are rated to carry 15 pounds each then it will weigh 30 pounds. If not, then at least we'll know what you're working with and can move forward accordingly.
