Coil Balance Shoes and Tilt Latch

Handy Person from Fairfax, Virginia
I will have to order at least three sets (3 left-seated and 3 right-seated) of Pivot Lock Shoes that match the above pictured tilt-window. I believe it might be 15-177

I also have at least one tilt latch that needs to be replaced. Because I do not have a picture of it, I have, instead, included the information sticker that remains on the window sash. Please let me know if you are able to determine, from the sticker information, what the correct tilt latch part would be correct.

I agree, our 15-177 pivot shoe looks like a good match for your original. Unfortunately, the sticker doesn't tell us anything. The only way we'll be able to ID the tilt latch is to use an old one as a reference. Do you have an identical window in the house that might use the same hardware?

Thank you Tom,

I apologize for not getting back with you earlier. Do you have any retail outlets near Wilmington, NC? If so, could you direct me to their location so that I could bring the balance shoe and the coil from the window to match it up?

Otherwise, what information do you need to find the correct coils to go with a set (left and right) of Pivot Lock Shoes and what would be the cost of shipping?

I meant coils to go with the balance shoe; I have already found a tilt latch at Home Depot or Lowes that worked.

We don't have a location in your area, unfortunately. But I can continue to help you here. The 15-177 pivot shoe I recommended is designed to work with the Series 152 spring. If you have the 15-177 shoe, then that's the spring you want. You can use the stamp printed on the old one to pick the best option.

Since I will have a specific time frame to determine the correct pivot(s) and spring(s), could you please tell me how long it takes to ship them after an order is placed and what the shipping charges are?
Also, doesn't the choice of spring depend upon the weight of the window? Are you approximating the correct coil from the size of the window in the picture? Should I weigh/measure the window before purchasing the coil?

If you click on the Series 152 store page I linked you to in my last post, you'll see that there are multiple strength options for this spring. You need to match that up to the stamp printed on your originals.

Shipping cost and delivery time depends on what option you select during checkout. We offer a few different options, so it really depends on what you want.

Thank you. I received the pivot shoes and was wondering why they have different numbers on them; 4A, 6A, 9A, 12A, and 16A. They all appear to be the same, just wondering. My real reason for writing is to ask what is the best type of lubricant to use with these pivot shoes and the corresponding metal coil balances? I appreciate your help and will be contacting you to order again in the future.

Those numbers just are manufacturing reference codes; as you surmised, they don't have anything to do with the shoe's identity as they are all the same. As far as a lubricant goes, we suggest using a silicone spray. That should keep the window running smoothly without attracting gunk like WD-40 often does.
