Coil Balance Spring #5

A quick learner from Simpsonville, SC says:
I'm looking to replace some coil balance springs for a sash that is about 19 lbs. The spring was marked with a 5 on it. It is just a single spring on each side.

I tried using the S190-540 coil balance springs, but they didn't hold the weight. I also tried the S190-640 coil balance springs, which held it up, but it was difficult to put the window up and down. I actually ordered these for a double coil setup but had to replace a single coil setup first and thought these might have worked. They did work great for the double coil setup though, so thanks for the recommendation.

Thanks for posting. Does this window use the 15-180 Pivot Shoe? If so, then yes, you'll need Series 190 Coil Springs. I can't explain the stamps on your old single coil setup, but for a window sash with a weight of 19 lbs, I advise you switch to a double coil setup. You will need (4) of the S190-540, with 2 installed on either side of the window sash.
