Coil Balance Question

Quick Learner
I ordered a Coil Balance Shoe, #15-177 and it was a perfect fit for my window. Thank you! In fact, I am going to order some more just to keep on hand for my other windows. I have Larmco Windows, which are no longer in business. I also need a coil for that window, however, I don?t know which size I need, there is no part number on the coil, it just has the letter D. Can you tell me which coil I need for the coil balance shoe that I ordered? #15-177. Can you buy the coil balance, shoe and the coil bushing all together as one part? Thank you

Thanks for posting. The 15-177 works with Series 152 Coil Balances. You have to choose a spring weight for each replacement coil you purchase. The spring weight indicates the amount of weight each individual coil spring can support. There is sometimes a stamp on each coil that indicates the required spring weight, but if there is none or you are unsure, obtain the exact weight of the window sash. Give me that exact weight and I can work out the spring weights you need.

For housing that works with the Series 152 spring, see the 15-143, 15-144 and 15-145 sold separately. These parts sandwich around each individual coil.

I weighed the window sash and it is 13 pounds. What size coil do I need? Do I need to replace both of them or just the one. I probably will order a couple of them to keep on hand. Thank you.

I would suggest using one 6 pound spring on each side. That will give you 12 pounds of total support; that's one pound off from your overall sash weight but I don't think you'll notice the difference.

If you replace one spring, you should replace both springs in my opinion. You never want to mix old an new coils.
