Coil balances collapsed

Question

These were purchased in 2016 and are now collapsing. These are custom windows. We are sure that the sash weight is correct for this balance. Is there a reason to believe another balance may hold up better?

Hmm...I am not really too sure. These Series 140-11 Quick-Tilt coil balance systems have been fairly reliable. Something could have happened, like tilting the sash or forcing the window to travel under stress. Being custom windows, the manufacturer has designed the windows to use Series 140 balance system. I would stay with the Series 140.
