Compatibility of Pivot Locking Shoe 15-046

I have vinyl tilt windows with broken shoes causing the windows to fall dangerously. I removed a spiral balance and shoe to take measurements. The Pivot Locking Shoe 15-046 seems to be the exact measurements needed. However, the spiral balance is 30in. length and 1/2in. diameter. You don't show a 1/2 in. spiral balance (only 3/8 and 5/8) and only 29in. length. Do these size difference with the spiral balance indicate a different manufacturer and if so, will the pivot locking shoe 15-046 be compatible?

Unfortunately, we can't really determine what Series spiral balance you have based on just the shoe. Are you sure the diameter is 1/2"? I recommend getting as exact a dimension as you can. Keep in mind that sometimes they'll measure 9/16", but will be considered 5/8" in the trade.

Tom,
I re-measured the spiral balance and it is 5/8in. I don't now how I misjudged it previously. However the length of the spiral balance is 30 1/4in. and I checked that. I'm presuming that the length is immaterial so I'm going to order new locking shoes for my windows. Thanks much.

The length actually is pretty important. Are you making sure to only measure the tube? That's how we determine the length of our spiral balances.
