Confirming S395-28 is Correct Item

Hi Folks,

Wanted to confirm before ordering...

Current channel balance has 2790 30 stamped on it. From the email discussions on your site, this is an obsolete numbering scheme. Please note pictures attached.

- my sash is 27 lbs (used bath scale)
- current channel balance is 28" (just the metal length, does not include end pieces)

It appears I should order the S385-28, with the stamp option of 2750.

Is this correct?

Thanks for writing in. You just show the bottom nylon shoe without wings, so I can't be 100% certain what you have without seeing the top nylon fitting as well. That said, I believe you might have the S395-28 Channel Balance, which has a top nylon fitting with wings. Look this over to confirm. If your sash weighs 27 lbs, then use the stamp option 2750.

Attached are pictures of the top nylon fittings. Please let me know if you need additional info.

Another question which I hope you can help with: I am able to remove the window, but with some difficulty, and I do not want to damage it. The window will come out as the videos indicate, but there is a nylon/plastic block at the top of the window, which does not - picture included.

I am able to get it out using a flat headed screwdriver, and basically prying it out. Is there a "trick" or method to do this properly?

Thank you for the time to confirm the channel balance I should order, as well as any advice on removing the window.

Thanks for the reply. You know, seeing the top nylon fitting, this actually looks more like our S390-28. As far as the nylon part on the top corners, this is called a Top Sash Guide. It holds the balance in place during window operation. As long as they aren't damaged, they shouldn't have an effect on how hard or easy it is to remove the sash.
