Constant Force Balance

A handy person from Albany, New York says:
I have a number of windows (new in 2009) that have the constant force balance that consists of 16-024, 15-087, and S180-7. When the sash is tilted, it doesn't stay locked at the pivot point, but rises up without any resistance other than the weight of the sash. Essentially, it takes two people to handle a window. The window frame dimensions are 35 1/8" X 71 3/8".

Will replacing the balances correct this problem?

Thanks in advance, Tom

Paul from SWISCO responded:
We appreciate your question, Tom. It sounds like the center cam may be broken on your 15-087 and not locking the balance system in place so you can tilt and hold the sash in place. You can remove the balance system and inspect the 15-087. Make sure you get back to us and let us know what you find out.
