I have broken, obsolete crossbow balances to replace with your 795 Series balances. My current balance has no metal channel...only a spring with a gray plastic/nylon tube through the center. How can I determine the correct length to order? Is it: The size of the gray plastic tube? (27 3/8 inches) The height of the sash? Or the length of the spring? (13.5 inches tip to tip) Thanks for your help!

Hello!

As you may know, the crossbow balances in your pictures aren't made anymore but if the springs have a diameter of 1/2", you can follow the video below to convert your windows to use the S795 channel balances. The video will walk you through each and every detail.

Yes...I know about the conversion. The question was....how do I determine the length of the new balances I am ordering? There is no metal channel to measure. Do I use the sash, the rod or the spring measurement? I don't want to order four in every size and return all but one. Thanks

If you watch the video above starting around the 1:22 mark, it will explain exactly how to determine the length you need.
