Hello,

Then 82-265 mortise lock is used with the 82-249 keeper shown under the related items section of our product page. I'll include the specifications below. Take a look and let us know if you need anything else. Thanks for posting!

Thanks

I have the correct one but having trouble getting the lock to fully engage the keeper. The door can be pulled open with it locked unless I hold the inside lock lever down in the locked position.

Any tips would be helpful.

That is quite strange. I would recommend starting by reviewing the video below that shows how to adjust the mortise lock hooks to ensure that they are engaging with the keeper correctly.

Also, could you confirm that the hooks are extending and retracting from the door properly when the door is open and being operated by the internal thumb latch?

Yes they are.

Great. Were you also able to adjust the latches to help them align with the openings in the keeper? If you're still having trouble, I would recommend showing us photos of the keeper that you're using. Thank you.

Thanks for getting back to us. To clarify, have you tried adjusting the latch hooks of the 82-265 mortise lock yet? I can't be sure without being there to troubleshoot but it's possible that the latch hooks might not have enough reach to engage properly with the keeper based on your photos.

I have tried to adjust the latch hooks and still can't seem to get them from slipping out of the keeper.

In the video you provided the mortise is upside down from mine, but I can't flip it because the handle lock won't match to the mortise.

Is there a list of installers in the Louisville, KY area I can reach out to?

Thank you for your patience as we looked into this for you. Looking at your existing keeper, it does seem to be similar to the 82-249. However, these mortise latches with the "anti-slam" button must have a keeper that lines up exactly with the specifications of the lock. If you have tried adjusting the lock and the door to meet up with your keeper and it still won't lock, I would suggest purchasing the 82-249 keeper as well.
