Correct parts please

Quick Learner from Englewood
Hello, I'm trying to determine the correct parts to replace the balancers. 3 of the 4 balancers are stuck at the top. I pulled on the tension / cord and I can see the top of the balancer appears to be screwed to the side of the frame. I don't see where the balancer will attach when they are down at the bottom where they belong. I don't see a foot. The balancer looks as though it slides into the space where the latch would be. Also, I need latches too. The number on the balancer is 26-5 if that helps. There's a very old wrinkled certification tag attached that reads series 2000. It's hard to read much else. Older home we recently purchased and I want to try and repair (and clean) these. Thanks for any guidance. Patty

I'm afraid I can't determine what type of balance you have based on these photos. It looks like a balance for a tilt window, but that's about all I can tell you at this stage.

In order to properly identify these, you are going to have to remove the entire balance from the window, preferably one that's in undamaged condition so that we can be certain that no important components are missing. I need a clear and close-up shot of the top end, bottom end, the clip at the end of the cord, and the pivot shoe.

The above details are the absolute minimum we need to proceed, so if you are unable to supply one of these details then we won't be able to make a recommendation. Those photos are necessary to proceed.

I know you also said that your balance doesn't use a shoe, but if this is a tilt window then it must have one. There's no other way for these to function, so I'm sure that there's one there. Please triple check and get back to me and we can work from there.

Hello,

After looking at this further "I think" I need the 27 inch Series 795 Channel Balance but I don't know about the weight. The balance is engraved 26-5 TH BSIN. I am afraid to take the window out for fear I can't get it back in and it's been raining / flooding lots here in FL for several days and nights.

Perhaps with the additional following pictures you will be able to guide me along a little further. I appreciate any help that you provide.

Thanks again for your previous prompt reply.

This is a huge help! I agree with your assessment, your balance looks like a dead ringer for our S795-27. Your old stamp of 26-5 usually indicates a metal channel length of 27" and a stamp of 27E, but I would recommend weighing your sash on a scale to verify.

Two balances with the 27E stamp hold 26 through 30 pounds, so as long as your sash weight falls in that range then you should be good to go.

Thank you so much Tom !! You were a huge help:) I greatly appreciate the time that you spent trying to help me. As you suggest, I'll weigh the sash before I order the parts.

I'll be ordering all of my supplies for this task and any other pertinent tasks, corresponding to your site, from you in the future.
We have lots to do here too :)
Thanks again !!

Good morning Tom,
I've finally gotten around to weighing my window sash. It's only 19.2 pounds. Just confirming that I should be purchasing Option C.

Product Code: S795-26 with Stamp option C
Thanks,
Patty

Thanks! You're 100% correct. If your sash is 19.2 pounds, then the stamp options we've been discussing would be way too strong. As you already surmised, the 27C stamp would be perfect, as it carries 17 through 22 pounds.

Great !! Thanks again for your prompt reply. I'll order them today and give it a go :)
