need to replace 4 balances.t seems like it's the S380. The length is 32, so the stamped number is 31. So it would be the S380-32. What I'm not sure is which of the options should I select. Can you tell from the old stamp? (31-15 HH5 CMC 5). My sash weigh 42lbs.

Please note that the 31-15 stamp for your balance is designed to support a sash weighing 45 to 47.99 pounds. We find it is best to stick with the original stamp the balance was designed to use unless you've been experiencing trouble when it comes to opening and closing the window. Please also note that custom orders are nonrefundable.

Hi Emily, thanks for your reply. I've been doing some research. It seems like the original balances were the 31-15 HH5 CMC 5, which seem to be APEX extended travel from Caldwell. The guides are 15P142 and 15P180.
Some of the original balances were replaced with 3140 (it seems like these are for lighter windows, but I don't feel any difference when opening the windows with these newer balances). The top guides in the newer balances are very similar to the original, but the bottom guides are different.
The weight of the sash is 41 lbs. I've received quote 3186, but I'm not sure if it was prepared using all the info I have now. I would prefer to buy something similar to the original balances. Thanks

The quote I sent you is indeed for APEX-type extended travel balances which appear to be the original balances you're looking for. The stamp is 31-15 to match the originals but we can certainly quote you a new stamp to support the 41-pound sash you're referring to. Let me know if that's the route you want to go and we can work from there.

Hi Emily. Thanks for your response. The windows were very hard to open with the old balances, so maybe it's because they were designed to support a different weight. Please send me a new quote with the 41 lbs weight. Thanks

You got it! I will email a new purchase link right now for (4) balances with the 31-13 stamp. A pair of balances with this stamp will support a sash weighing 41 to 42.99 pounds. There is also a 5-6 business week lead time.
